General McCaffrey was honored to chair a Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) 30 person delegation to Vietnam with co-chairs Jan Scruggs, Founder and President, VVMF -- and Peter Holt, CEO Holt Companies and San Antonio Spurs (and chairman fundraising for the Education Center at The Wall) on 9-17 January 2010.

I still remember (with pride) how then Colonel McCaffery pinned on my EIB when I was a Private E1, serving in his Brigade at Ft.Lewis in 1984. He was then Commander of the 3 Brigade, 9th Infantry Division. I Later drove for him a once or twice when I caught Duty at Brigade HQ. I was always impressed by him and even then sensed that it was the man that commanded respect and not just his rank. It appears that nothing has changed.
