I am 16 and just got your book Moment Of Truth In Iraq. The truth is I love this book. And I think it is great that you wrote it. Because personaly I like knowing the truth. Also being able to here the truth from some one who knows what there talking about because they were ther and saw it with there own eyes is great. Because this way it is not how should I say it sugar coated. Any way I am telling every one I know about this book. So thank you for doing this and writing ths book.

Michael,

I served as the tactical HUMINT team leader for the 3/2 SBCT I worked directly for LTC Johnson, COL Townsend and the 209th MICO. A great deal of the intelligence that was actioned during our tour in Iraq was courtesy of my team. From Mosul, Baghdad and Baqubah I have some things I'd love to talk to you about. Were you with us for a while or just during our stint in Baqubah? My father was a big follower of your blog here in the US. At any rate, please feel free to contact me.

Michael,

I learned about Gates of Fire from your blog, and thought you might like to hear an amusing story about how this book almost didn't get published. From Steven Pressfield on Goodreads (http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show_group/39832.marketing):

"Gates" took about two years, Thomas. I already had an agent from a prior book, "The Legend of Bagger Vance," but when he took "Gates" out, he couldn't find a buyer. Here's what worked: my manager from Hollywood, Rich Silverman, had the bright idea and managed to plant an item in a Daily Variety column about screenwriters who had also written novels. The item mentioned "Gates" and gave a very brief description of the subject matter. An editor at Doubleday, Shawn Coyne, just happened to spot it and phoned my agent. That was how the book got published.

In my 72 years I've read a lot of books and this book with the exception of the Bible is the best book I've read.
I want to thank you for writing it.
My precption of the Muslim people was not very high. I expected most all of them to be as the extremeist is. Your book opened my eyes.
