Defence in the Media: 19 February 2008
The Daily Telegraph newspaper has a report which claims that defence chiefs are “facing a £3 billion hole in their budget” which will have an impact on some major defence projects. The Comprehensive Spending Review settlement announced last year saw a 1.5 per cent increase in real terms against the baseline for 2007/08. The baseline is a realistic, accurate comparator for growth, in line with normal Treasury practice, so like for like budgets and growth can be compared.
