Someone finally understands

This is not a new concept but a critical one.Our own struggle to be independent used many of these tactics. It is about time the people in power realize that. The fact that many Americans do not understand other cultures in our world makes it difficult to develop friendships and strong relationships. Now with that said how do you defeat a enemy that you do not understand ?

No we can not nuke the whole world but we better drag our butts out of this and learn from our mistakes. - Steve Tobin

Michael,

Picked up a copy of your book the other day. I know events on the ground are fluid. So before I start reading, I wanted to know if there's been anything that's happen since publication to change any of the judgements or positions you made in the book?

Thanks.

The canary in the mineshaft survived. It is starting to chirp and it is just a matter of time before it begins to sing.

Great writing. Hope to see a link from Fox News soon proclaiming the war is over in Iraq. - Ronster

So, the violence is falling. Great. But is this the calm before the storm? Are things actually better in any meaningful way, or is everyone just waiting till the US leaves before round #2? Or will everything gradually fall to pieces as the walls are taken down? - Just An Australian

Hooray for Iraq!

Saddam is gone. It could not have been done without the US and its alllies.

Long live a democratic Iraq.

Thank you, Michael, for your work.

Thank you, America and other Coalition forces for doing the world's heavy lifting. Thank you, Iraqis, for treasuring Iraq. Another step forward for liberty, democracy, peace, justice, and prosperity.

May it last. - Vince

Change in definition of success in Iraq

I find it strange that we now consider Victory in Iraq the redaction of AQI. The test of success will only come a few years after we have exited. Some may feel that the religious apartheid was the real cause of the success. The surge seems to be mostly aimed at AQI. If a civil war erupts after we leave then AQI might return. I just wish that we had had a national debate prior to our incursion and had not essentially abandoned the mission in Afghanistan prematurely and are now paying the price.

You have a great blog. I find your reporting accurate and, when necessary, moving. Keep up the good work and and your head down...but not too far. We need your eyes.

Regards,

Michael;
Just curious; have you ever run into Michael Totten on any of your trips to Iraq? He is there now. I read both of you reports all the time; they are a few of the only accurate reporting we have seen.
P.S. I have your book. My friends and I really like it.
